A Saucerful of Science

By James Russell Farmer

This book is a general foray into the four principle sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. The chemistry has been indispensable to our studies in physics. We have revolutionised mathematics with substantial discoveries in the fields of infinite limits and complex numbers. Indeed have even found a way to incorporate imaginary numbers into biology, specifically, genetics. My friend, Muhammad, from Pakistan, appears in this book through his “theory of everything”, which has been substantially important in my investigations in physics. There is some experimental physics and chemistry in this book too, laboratory investigations into radioactivity have paved the way for a revolutionary connection of General Relativity to vanishing velocities, and on account of a couple of afternoons in the chemistry laboratory, working on a self-designed project, we have found a manner to describe the connection of molecular interactions to hydrophobicity of alcohols. With regard to the biology, again, we have a new model for capillarity rise and surface tension in plant xylem, accounting for plants being able to transpire beyond an elevation of 60 cm.
